Airsoft Innovations Propane Adaptor Version 2 Review

Review Author:

Introduction
$20 a can, $15 a can, $10 a can... Green Gas prices keep getting lower... How about $3 a can? Now you can with the new Airsoft Innovations Propane Adaptor Version 2!!!

First Impression

Holy crap!!! This thing is solid... This ain't your ordinary Chinese manufactured cheapo product. This thing is built like a rock.
Very nice packaging... The oil (which was included becuase I ordered during their version change) was neatly wrapped in a blue cloth thingy. Everything was secure, everything was tight. Great looking product, great looking service (and it didn't even take a month to get here, which normally things from Canada do).

Function
Is there any more important part of any product than it's function? Well, I am pleased to say that this product lives up to its advertisment.

Screw on the cap, drop a few drops of oil, insert probe, fill mag. Simple, no?

WOOSH!!!! and your mag becomes full. For some reason it seems to have more pressure than normal Green Gas cans, but then again the bottle is larger, containing more gas, thus probably causing more pressure, or I'm just a babbeling idiot. Either way it doesn't matter too much.

This is the only thing I don't like about the adaptor. When I was filling up my mags, I released the can very fast from my mags, thus causing the fill valve seals (on my KJW mags too) to pop out and I lost them. Actually, I lost one KJW mag seal, and one APOH.tk seal. But then again, since I make them, I'll just have to make another one to replace. If you dont release the can as fast as I did, you shouldn't have any problems. Although, if you use APOH.tk fill valve seals, be cautious when releasing the can from your mag after filling.

Update 8/14/04:
Actually, the reason why my seals kept popping out is because when the valve is being released, not much pressure is keeping the seals down as the Coleman propane tank doesn't require much force to activate. Using the BenzOmatic propane tank, which requires more length to activate, i'm able to keep my seals in my mags almost effortlessly.

Appearance and Build
Rock solid... Anyone got a problem with that?... I didn't think so... "AIRSOFT-INNOVATIONS.COM" is embossed on the top (cool!). Being version 2 and all, there are only 2 parts to the adaptor, making parts easy to find if lost, and easy to assemble.
Gimmicks and Miscellaneous

Custom graphics!!! This isn't your normal cheapo product, where they just type something up on "notepad", print it, scan it, then distribute it.

Also, since I ordered the adaptor during the backorder period, it came with a little bottle of silicone oil.

Update 8/12/04
My green Coleman propane tank says it's 16.4 OZ which translates into less than 500ml, around half of the advertised amount in standard Green Gas cans.
The catch: Well, I finally used up my first propane tank (that was fun, now it only charges my mag up for about half the shots) and guess what? I've used up around 2000 BBs or more, meaning that the amount stated on Green Gas cans are incorrect (lying bastards). Also, Sports Authority in Hawaii sells Propane tanks for $1.99!!!

Update 8/14/04
Umm... A propane comparison table
Brand
Weight
Judgement
Price and Location
Coleman
16.4 oz = 485.005887 ml
Doesn't stink (if you have the REALLY old bottles other wise it's just as bad as the BernzOmatic), cheap, giant round green container, bad for guns with fill valve seals.
$1.99 Sports Authority
$3.19 Hardware Hawaii (Kailua)
BernzOmatic
14.1 oz = 416.986769 ml
Quote "Smell for rotten egg odor." Stinks pretty bad, expensive, slimmer Green Gas looking like container, great for guns with fill valve seals.
$2.99 City Mill (Waianae)

Overall

What more is there to say? A great product, works as advertised (minus a few problems, which aren't really problems in my opinion), and saves a ton of money! Great buy! HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!!!
